I have seen 7's with add ons to their exhausts, what are they and where do you get them from? How much quieter do they make it and do they reduce the power? Fit a better silencer and resolve the problem for good. Raceco sell what I believe to be the best - far quieter, excellent performance, light, repackable, and good looks. Not cheap, but the best. You'd need to get the end modified to fit your manifold and you might need to rejet the carbs (you might need to do this with any replacement), but you can pick them up for about £50-70 on Ebay etc and the Titanium ones look really good, see here for one that Rich Miles fitted to his R1 Striker.
