Nifty
I have a 1.4K Supersport. I wish to replace my friction plate but the current one has absolutely no identifying marks on it to tell me who made it etc. Will it be a standard Rover item? Can anyone furnish me wi9th the relevant info to be able to get one from my local motor factors? Thank you, Nifty. AMMO
Nifty Not likely to be a Rover item as it is meant to work with a Ford gearbox. Spline is 23 x 1". Pinto? AMMO

Rob Walker
The standard clutch is not AP this is only fitted to the R300 400 & 500. You require a friction plate from a Escort Mexico crossflow engined, should be available from any good motor factors. The Ap friction plate is around the £100 and should be installed along with the uprated cover £140.

Big Brother
Nifty, Ring Mick at Redline. He can supply the plate for a very reasonable price! He can also give you a QH part number if needed. Nifty
Steve, Whenever someone says ring Caterham I ring Mick by default. I was interested in the original fit model because my mate Jason owns a garage business and will supply me with bits at cost to him, in return for a drive or two (Eg. new brake discs at less than £13.00 each) *thumbup* . Obviously he doesn't have access to Caterham bespoke bits...which is where Mick comes in *thumbup*. Nifty. Allen Payne
I bought a standard plate from Caterhams for my 1400 and it was a Quinton Hazell C784AF (23 splines) Regards Allen Edited by - Allen Payne on 12 Apr 2004 17:08:
Nifty
Cheers Allen. I presume the 1.4 Supersport uses the same clutch plate, just has the lighter flywheel. Keep off the straight and narrow 😬
Allen Payne
I changed the flywheel from a heavy Rover one to a lighter Caterham one and used the same clutch plate & cover.
