shn7
Just filling my engine following the re-installation and on checking the build manuals (old and new versions) they conflict on the capacity . So what is the oil capacity of an 1800 K series with CC dry sump, 6 litres (old manual) or 4.5 litres (new manual) 🤔 I suspect it's 6 litres but want to be sure. Steve. davidvoas73
Have a look here: http://7faq.com/owbase/ow.asp?HowDoI%2FCheckMyK%2DSeriesOilLevel It suggests 4.5l, for a dry sump system, but then goes on to say: "The best practice is to establish a correct oil level by overfilling the system slightly so that some oil is vented to the catch tank after going for a drive with mixed amounts of high rev use, idling and cornering. Once the oil level has settled so that no more is being vented to the catch tank when driven, the oil level is by definition at its optimum level." My 1.8 Supersport takes over 5l for it to vent. Hope this helps. David

Jason Plato
I normally use 5 > 5.5 l *with* an oil filter change . 0.5 l or so in the filter , 3 in the beltank 2 in the camcover . Then I top up 1/4 L at a time until it spits a bit out of the breather .
