Regarding SVA - Caterham advised me very strongly NOT to use Southampton, I think it was to do with the high number of imported cars they deal with (and very few Caterhams I guess). In the end I decided to use Gillingham, I was going to do it myself but the only appointment they could offer in a short time was a Wednesday morning and I couldn't get the time off. So I drove the car to Dartford for it's PBC and paid them to also take it for the SVA and registration - expensive but it got me on the road earlier! *thumbup*

Waiting times can be very high, it is safe to apply as soon as possible, because after you have applied, they send you a card and you then phone up to arrange the appointment date. There is no risk of being forced to commit to a date on the initial application.

Simon - Taunton seems quite good for SVA - they've done a few Caterhams and as AFAIK don't have a long waiting list. maybe your best option is to have Caterham get it SVA'd when you take it for the PBC.
