italjob
When assembling that bolt in question, should I use locktight or copper grease? Sound like locktight means trouble if I want to take that bolt out in the future. But would the bolt ease itself out if I use copper grease? Many thanks. Paul McKenzie
Loctite on the thread, copper slip on the shank .....and you'll never have these probs...do it right when you build it Paul
Tony C
I used just Copper Grease IAW the Assembly Guide. Built it a year ago and after 18000 miles removed the bolts the other day without any problem. No corrosion and still nicely coated in CG - it won't come undone if you torque it up correctly. BTW, the correct type of Loctite Thread Locker should never prevent a bolt from being unfastened with the correct tools. Loctite is a Trade-Name; they manufacture all types of glue, sealant, thread locker Etc. I use Loctite 243 "Threadlocker" - works a treat and can be undone when required. Also be aware that when using Copper Grease, Loctite or any other type of thread "Lubricant", the recommended torque value must be reduced to compensate. Have a look at the 7FAQ for "The whole nine yards". 😬 BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.
