Hmm - well I've already got the CC ali job (not race) - and haven't had any cooling problems so far (ex-Academy 1.6k) - but I'd like to fit a Laminova at some point in the future, and was wondering if my current rad can cope, or if the Radtec made more sense...

Well Anthony,

I reckon its looking pretty fair in quite a short space of time.

So far we are like this:

Zak (definite)

McAlvert (possibly if it fits a Xflow)

Myles (possibly)

Steve-B working on it with the US gang

Jimmyslr ( possibly)

Thats not bad so far 😬 *cool*

You know it makes sense! *wink* 😬 *cool* *biggrin* *smile* *tongue*

I have a Radtec radiator which I fitted at the same time as a Laminova oil cooler. The reasons were that I was getting both high oil temperature and high water temperature when on track (oil=130degrees, water over 100 😳). As the Laminova dumps heat into the cooling system, an uprated radiator was required. Many people recommended the Radtec and as there was a bulk buy at the time I went for it - price delivered was ~£200. I have been extremely pleased with the set-up and my oil temperature now peaks at approx ~95 degrees under hard track use and the water temperature stays under 100 as well. Fitting the Radtec was very easy - it is just a straight swap. You disconnect the fan, unbolt the old radiator, remove the fan from it, bolt fan to Radtec (you may need to bend the lugs a bit to make it line up), bolt Radtec to car and then re-connect fan. I would suggest buying a new fan switch from Caterham but you can swap the old one over - they are only £10 and have a reputation for fragility. The fan switch may seem difficult to get into the new radiator but this is easily overcome with a bit of brute force - careful not to cross the threads though.

Hope this helps,

Shaun

Thanks Anthony.

I think I will have to wait until after the Easter w/e (i.e. after the Anglesey track day)

As far as I can remember from my solitary track-day at Snetterton last year, I didn't have overheating issues - but even in the last few not-too-cold days of blatting, the OT has risen noticeably...

Zak,

Shaun's just been around to my place and it looks like the Radtec will fit my Xflow just fine.

So, I'll be calling them in the morning. Thanks for setting this up!

Michael.
