Miles Taylor
What pressures should be in my 185/60 R 14 Avon Z1 tyres for road use. My car's 1400 SS with stiff springs. The tyres were fitted new when I bought car from Caterham, by the previous owner or caterham. Are they really for a heavier car as a friend suggested. Money aside, would another tyre be better ( yokohamas are mentioned a lot). Advice gratefully accepted. Milo
John Whyman
Caterham recommend 20psi ( 1.4 Bar)for tyres of 13/14.
Dartmoor7
It's not just that the Avons are made for ordinary cars, they are not even well reviewed ON ordinary cars!
CHRIS CLARK
Thought my car seemed to be 'hanging on' well recently so did another pressure check. 15" Prisoners with Yoko A520 195x50-15.A bit of pressure had been LOST! They were at 14psi rear and 12psi front. Recommended is 18psi. uummm!!! Still went well though. Car is a 1400SS on std supplied springs.
john aston
Ihave 1.4 SS on 15" Prisoners and 18 psi is fine;20 lightens the steering alittle-but its not heavy is it?- and the car is more bump sensitive on 20.I used a u/s pump last year which was reading less than 50% of real pressure and 45 psi is - challenging?-teeth rattle etc.....
