simonbell
Trainspotting was a fnatastic British film..... a film about real people in real cities in real situations.....none of this Holywood crap where one man kills an entire nation of aliens with nothing more than a handgun and a couple of grenades....... I hate films with happily ever after endings, I`d rather they ended leaving you asking what happened.......at least it stimulates you into using your imagination. Lord of the Rings 3 for example, I had never read the last part of the trilogy but I was fairly certain that it would end with the ring being destroyed, although I wasn`t quite sure who would end up throwing it in to the fire. So watching the film the ending wasn`t unexpected but when it got to that point I thought the film was over and I was ready to leave having enjoyed a fantastic movie. Then it got dragged out for an extra half hour of happily ever after tripe.....it would have been much more powerful if it had ended with the ring being thrown into the fire. Sorry that was almost a rant..... Coose
Sorry, but the Matrix as a pile of self-indulgent pants! Lets see how many effeects we can get into an hour and a half! And I just can't take Kenarnoo seriously..... WYLDE STALLIONS! To be honest, I can't think of a really decent film that has come out of America for the last 20 years! Ok, Full Metal Jacket as good. Computers have been a hinderence if you ask me - done away with proper, quality acting! Anyway, here's a kind of top 4 or 6.... Italian Job (don't even ask which one!) Bullitt Star Wars trilogy (except the last half of Return of the Jedi - what was George Lucas thinking?) Get Carter (again, there is only one....) Glub! Meldrew
Coose - Full Metal Jacket was made in Docklands by a bloke who lived just outside St Albans. It was not a very American American film. simonbell
Coose But the Matrix was the film which broke the special effects boundaries at that time. It has been copied ever since and yeah the sequels weren`t as good. Coose
Cheers owelly - I'm coughing up some fantastic lumps! I would say they were green, but that ould have no effect whatsoever! "But the Matrix was the film which broke the special effects boundaries at that time. It has been copied ever since and yeah the sequels weren`t as good." That may be so simon, but it had pants acting and I'm sure there was a story line in there somehere! I haven't even considered watching the sequels to be honest..... As far as I'm concerned it was just downright ridiculous, and a poor excuse to wear leather and sunglasses! Meldrew - I thought Stan was English but wasn't absolutely sure... It was made with primarily american actors though! Nothing wrong with the beach in Sunderland mid-winter. All you need is a bottle of whisky, a sheepskin coat and a shotgun! Glub!
