Leadership Team RogNeedham Posted March 14, 2004 Leadership Team Share Posted March 14, 2004 Finally fitted high FIA bar ...those two bolts have to be the most inaccessible little critters I've ever had to fit...you know the ones that go up from underneath (oo er!) Anyway the rear deck no longer seems to fit given the angle of the struts coming from the rear of the car Is there a different cover available...or am I missing a trick ❗ Rog
Grubbster
They are a bit awkward those 2, especially if the car is built. Yes there is a specific boot cover available - not sure but 7Heavensoon might have a spare one as he was supplied the wrong one with his car. Dirty Den
I take it you mean the boot cover? When I had my FIA bar fitted at Caterham, they had to replace the boot cover due to the diagonal brace. Delberts Wallet
Roger, Yes you do need a new boot cover, or have the one you have adjust to suit Blue and Carbon 6 Speed Supersport here
Frying Pan
Rog New boot cover definitely required. If you have the new Caged bar, make sure they give you the correct cover. First one I got was wrong (for the old 'Arch' FIA bar), and was hence spare. Have now hopefully sold it in aid of Neuk the Leuk Guy See some pictures of the build here. Collected on March 1st! Alias
You may also find that those two bolts which go up from underneath come into contact with the rear suspension. When changing the petrol tank on my car we noticed that there were lots of scrape marks on the top of the suspension - thus those bolts are preventing the suspension bushes from doing their job. Frying Pan
RobF The bolts that I was supplied have a very shallow head to prevent contact with the dampers - are yours 'standard' bolts? If so, that's your problem! Guy See some pictures of the build here. Collected on March 1st!
Dave_H
Even the shallow headed bolts can rub on the top of the damper - they're very close. Dave
scooby dooby doo
The standard boot cover fits with the tall FIA bar - it actually fits better as the thicker bar fills out the holes a bit better. HOOPY R706KGU Hoopylight R
Leadership Team RogNeedham Posted March 15, 2004 Author Leadership Team Share Posted March 15, 2004 Thanks all 7heaven - my bar is the tall 'Arch' bar - the holes for the two vertical bars (ie by your head) do not line up at all. I'm certain I need a different cover. Presumably CC sell them? Rog
