JDoc
Barely a technical question, but anyway.... I'm thinking of fitting the luggage rack supplied by Caterham. Having never really ad a chance to look at one, I was wondering how strong it is - how much weight can it safely carry, how good is it at withstanding the lateral g-force that a good corner can give etc. Any thoughts appreciated. Jeff I mean, come on, it's only a car, right?
AndreK
I would suggest no more than 15 KG. You may find it worthwhile to protect the spare wheel support frame with lengths of hose pipe where the prongs of the feet sit. Also suggest 2 luggage bungees threaded through the spare wheel and around the rack and bag, as well as the 'gip Caterham supplied strap!
Casbar
Don't overload the rack, as too much weight aft of the wheels, really screw up the handling. I found out on the last Le Mans trip.
