Greg Park
After selling my car late last year lining up a suitable HPC and I'm finally in a position to buy an HPC, but the owner of the HPC I've found is looking for a Superlight R and until he finds one he won't sell his. Think I'll probably end up waiting but in case the HPC I have lined up falls through is anyone else looking to sell their Vauxhall HPC. Ideally spec as follows: Standard 175bhp on Carbs (45) Cycle Wings Limited Slip Diff B R Green + Yellow anniv stripe Competition Exhaust (side mounted) Full Weather Gear Big Brakes Wide Track FIA roll bar Leather Seats Immobiliser Heater HPC 16" Wheels Parky Edited by - Greg Park on 12 Mar 2004 10:41:

jon1
Have you seen the HPC 235 bhp Evolution that is for sale at caterham South?? Bloody good value, even tempted to trade my standard HPC in for it.....
Greg Park
Yes, but was looking for a standard (175bhp) engine as I don't know how a 235bhp will take to sitting in London traffic! Parky
EFA
Greg, A 235 is a smooth running as a std HPC. Fat Arn Slay the K.
Greg Park
Fat Arnie, Surely a standard 175bhp engine will last longer as it is less stressed! Parky
I reply to every thread
My 200bhp lump has done 78K (with no discernable wear to bearings) How much you planning on doing?
EFA
Greg, The 235 is only more stressed if you rev it higher, and it has uprated rod bolts to cope with this. They are pretty unburstable unless you do something really daft. Even mine has only really ever failed because of daft non-power related issues. Fat Arn Slay the K. jon1
Greg - have you been to look at the HPC 235 at Caterham?? The only way to know if it drives well in traffic and at low speeds is to take it for a test drive........ I reckon you will love it and as said, its got all the bits that you would want to upgrade to anyway, if had the cash for a trade in i would be very tempted..... Go on, you know you want to !!!!! Greg Park
markez79, Couldn't get down to Caterham last weekend and in Scotland for the rugby this weekend, but plan to get down to Caterham the following weekend to take a test drive, if it's still availalble! Will update if/when I get to drive it. I hear another HPC owner has been down to try it, was it you? Still interested to see what else is available. Greg Park
Should have said I don't want any ex-race cars. Please let me know if you have an HPC for sale and it fits my description as I have cash waiitng, even if you're only thinking of selling! 😬 Parky
Joachim Westermann
@Greg, I do not read that you don´t like Ex-Racecars. Sorry. My is rebuild on a rep chassis. I never see better used Vauxhalls as this and the car of Mike Chitty - also an ex-racecar, I bought 2 years ago. But I saw a lot of only roadgoing ****boxes. Greg Park
Joachim, I'm not disputing the condition of your car or that there are a lot of road going ****boxes out there, it's just not what I'm looking. But thanks for posting the details and good luck with selling the car. Parky

jon1
Greg - I haved been in contact with David Ridley at caterham cars about the HPC 235 they have. He told me that they are getting another HPC in next week but that is fuel injected rather than or carbs...... i know you have very much set your heart on carbs but you just have to read some past threads to realise the benefits of a throttle bodied VX - a conversion that is a lot easier to do if you have a fuel injected car to begin with !! However, if you dead set on a carb'd car, you could always convert to them from fuel injection..... The car has only done 8k miles and is dark blue..... give them a call?! Hope this helps. Good luck !
Greg Park
markez79, Thanks, when I rang about the HPC235 they did say they never get HPC's in, suddenly 2 in a short space of time.....I expect they'll get a third in soon. It's just like waiting for a bus! 😬 Parky
