Laurence Wilson
I've been browsing your ne7ers gallery Have you Arch's removable wheel carrier? It looks a tidy option without the usual 5cm stumps. I'm looking to prepare mine in a similar manner if I can. How have Arch implemented this? scooby dooby doo
mine has two litte bosses in the transverse chassis rail. the wheel carrier is from the old chassis and was cut off. To join the two I have some little cylinders of steel that just fit in in the spare carrier and are smaller at the other end to slot into the bosses. A grub screw type thing at each end secures thewhole thing. Arch did the chassis bit when it was made (v hard to retro fit i think). Would be nice if the carrier was full size - its about 2" to shallow as the stumps were left on the old chassis. They'll be MANY more pictures going up there soon HOOPY R706KGU Hoopylight R
Laurence Wilson
Thanks, Hoopy How deep are the bosses in the chassis? Peardrop
Rhubarb
❗ ❗ WARNING ❗ ❗ Serious conversation going on in the Sheds. [siren mode] AWOOOGGGAAHHHH AWWWOOOGGGAAAHHH. [/siren mode] "How deep are your bosses" My bosses have always seemed to be very shallow characters who only seemed to be interested in what time I got to the office and what time I left...... scooby dooby doo
The same as the diameter of the chassis - so about 3/4" at a guess. the hole in the middle of them (ie the size of the thing that is needed to join carrier to chassis) is about 1/4". Ask Bruce at Arch - he may even remember me. Remind him that he built me a new chassis after I mangled the old one and that he replaced the rack table a few months later after i bent it.... He's VERY friendly and useful. HOOPY R706KGU Hoopylight R

Laurence Wilson
I like this one GRRR 😬 !! Hoop, what I meant was how long is the male cylinder protruding from the carrier that slots into the chassis. Having a poke around the car and listening to your description, I'm hoping I'll be able to take advantage of CAD / CAM lessons and find a similar solution Thanks again Peardrop Edited by - Peardrop on 27 Jan 2004 11:08:
scooby dooby doo
me too I had only a few seconds to take it, just rested the camera on the ground and pressed the button - i couldn't even see the screen on the back.. came out perfect HOOPY R706KGU Hoopylight R
scooby dooby doo
the spacer thing is like this ------ ----========== / / / /_____ ____ / / / _____/ /____/ / / / / ------ ----========== ie about 3 inches long and in three thicknesses. 3/4" of just fitting inside the carrier 2" of same size as the outside of the carrier (ie tiny bit thicker) 3/4" of just fitting in the boss - i guess about 1/4" thick there's a threaded hole in each of the end sections that takes an M6 bolt. and the chassis and carrier need a hole in them for this bolt to go in. Laurence Wilson
Thanks Hoopy Maybe now I can make something useful in CAD Best go measure those chassis tubes ... Peardrop Edited by - Peardrop on 27 Jan 2004 16:48:
