pfreeman
I've got some Superlight R rims that are currently chrome around the outside, with the 5 spokes painted black. Does anyone know if I could paint the outer parts of the rims black, and are they actually split rims ? Thanks

Gridgway
not sure and maybe not. My SLR rims were welded to stop air leaks. AFAIK all were. However if they are the newer R500 type, then they could be split. Graham
pfreeman
Stewart - thanks for the verbose reply !! Graham - they are the older SLR ones, my R500 ones are definatley splittable, but I'm happy to keep these as they are. Anyone suggest who could paint them - or could I just pop down halfords and do it myself ?
Number Six
There used to be a specialist wheel refinishers based in Shepherd's Bush - might be worth a google hunt. Something like motor wheel services. Andy
Clay Head
To make sure the paint stays where you put it I would advise you to etch prime the areas first. Most etch primers are toxic though, so don't spray without a decent mask (if you are brushing you'll be fine). Brown Brothers are pretty helpful with this sort of thing as they can mix the paint to the colour/ gloss level you want
