And also the way the sizing works AA means the chest measurement is 1 inch less at one point compared to the other. But from there on its 0, +1, +2, +3 etc. ie DD isn't half a size up from D, its a full size up. As time passes, if the system is successful, it often occurs that the customer base begins to include individuals outside the original range. Since A typically refers to the smallest size (or ends up doing so), something must be done. Hence, AA electric batteries, AA shoes, and AA cup sizes.
