stocky
My supersprint's been left in the garage since Nov. Apart from keeping the battery charged and changing the oil, she's had no attention. Taxed it on Saturday, ready for a spin on Sunday (April 1st), can't get her into gear with engine running. It feels like the clutch is not de-clutching, I imagine due to corrosion. Anybody had similar, and is there a quick fix?
Graham Sewell
Put the car on axle stands with the car in gear. Start the engine and then apply the brakes while the clutch pedal is pressed in. Otherwise, do similar while driving. Good luck.
stocky
Cheers Graham, managed to get it going by just starting the engine, in gear, clutch pressed. Car movement enough to unstick the plate. Next problem, corrosion on front discs need sorting out. Thanks for your help.
Graham Sewell
Try driving with a bit of left-foot braking - may deglaze the pads at the same time.
fastforward
At the end of the year park up with a piece of wood/stick depressing the clutch. You have some damp about the place/garage. This will stop a repeat performance. Also cover the fluid chamber with cling film and this stops egress of water into the hydraulic brake fluid but WARNING don't forget to take it off before you start using the car again.
