Chickenhawk
Anyone know where the best/cheapest place to get a set of Spax dampers is and what the compressed extended lengths are? Or should I save up and get a set of Ledas or other. Comments (constructive) gratefully received. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
AndreK
Here's Spax's web site http://www.spax.co.uk/ Based on my own experience, I would say that Spax tend to leak sooner...also Leda's have replaceable parts and arguably look nicer. They are also not THAT much more money. There are other options as well eg Freestyle Motorsport. Someone more knowledgeable will be along soon! andy couchman
Chickenhawk If it's a live axle car I have a pair of new Spax fronts and good S/H Spax rears, both complete with adjustable spring platforms and sprint springs for sale.E-mail me offline if you're interested. Chickenhawk
Thanks for replies, it's an early dedion (86) so more than likely no good. I think that I'll also be opting for new ones as much as I like taking the front end to pieces I wouldn't want to do it on to regular basis!! millsn
Think that you can get Bilsteins for older cars. If not try freestyle. Didn't have a good experience with Ledas myself Nigel Mills - 2.0 Zetec carbs
xflow7
Nigel, Any chance you could elaborate on what it was you disliked about the Ledas? Thanks, Dave Williams
puremalt
Just had Bilsteins all round to replace spaxs on an '89 dedion Supersprint First impressions are that the car rides harder (leaky spaxes?) but corners better, even though they are not adjustable. Still got the end out on Saturday though (ooeeer missus) Excellent! Edited by - puremalt on 6 Jan 2004 14:01:
Chickenhawk
Just been down to those nice boys at Redline and picked up a new set of SPAX's, a new set of springs, front anti-roll bushes, front anti-roll mounts, front suspension bushes, a-frame bushes....hoses....when I get five minutes I fit it all and report back. Meantime I owe, I owe it's off to work I go... And start saving for the other items on my wish list that Santa forgot...hi-vis sidescreens/weather gear (cos they wont fit with my existing roof, you've got to buy the lot! Ouch!)and side exhaust to ring a few more HP's out of my X-flow. 😬
