Joe 90
I've just noticed that I haven't riveted the Dzus fasteners on that retain the bottom of the nose cone. It looks like the rivets have to go in from the top...  ... which means removing the radiator, right 🤔 I will be on the road by Christmas. Peter T
no, they rivet from underneath  Founder Member of The Twisted Prop Club.
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted December 11, 2003 Leadership Team Share Posted December 11, 2003 yes, they rivet from on top  Assuming the design of the nose hasn't dramatically changed recently, the bottom edge of the nose sits on top of the chassis mounting plates, therefore the rivets on the nose are fitted from below, and the ones on the chassis are fitted from above. They'll foul the fitting otherwise. Stu.
Peter T
Not on my nosecone, the brackets fit under the bottom of the nosecone, i have just changed mine to a carbon arnie, and did not have to take my radiator off  Founder Member of The Twisted Prop Club. Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted December 11, 2003 Leadership Team Share Posted December 11, 2003 Yes Peter, I think we agree that the brackets are positioned below the nose cone, but in order to do so the rivets must be positioned "head to head", ie, downwards in the bracket (bottom piece) and upwards in the nose (upper piece). If I understand correctly, Oliver is asking about the rivets on the car (brackets) not the nose, therefore downwards! Oliver, it is sometimes possible to get in with the rivet gun behind the radiator if you undo the mountings and get somebody to pull it forwards - there should be enough flex in the hoses. Stu. Englishmaninwales
Oliver I replaced mine recently. As Stu states the correct way is to rivet from above..... but you can rivet from underneath, then file away 1/32 to 1/16'' or so of the protruding rivet until you have a enough clearance, without risking the intregrity of the rivet. Worked fine so far malcolm
Joe 90
I think I'll try Stu's suggestion first and if that doesn't work, Malcolm's. Thanks guys. I will be on the road by Christmas. Photos here
