Centurion Challenge

To all Members and Competitors with Jaguar Car Club Racing.

We write to you as past and present members of the Jaguar car Club Racing.

Your Committee came to a decision on 9th November 2003 that the club was no longer in a position to put on their own race meetings due to the reduced funds in the club’s coffers. A Sad day indeed!

As a result of this action the Tom Rowe Centurion Challenge is in jeopardy of being lost as well as the 100K races.

The Directors of the European Endurance & Racing Club, who have been involved with the JCCR over the past two seasons, made an offer to the Directors to promote & run the Centurion Challenge in addition to its Britcar & Britsports series.

Why would the EERC want to do this?

The JCCR hold a permit from the MSA to run races, which the EERC do not yet have.

The EERC would pay the JCCR a fee to run race meetings and in so doing build-up the JCCR’s reserves and enable it to resume as a race organiser and promoter in a couple of years.

Our two clubs have similar aims in our interests in longer distance races giving the competitors greater track time for their money.

The Directors of EERC work full-time in promoting and organising Britcar & Britsports. Have built-up Britcar, in 24 months, from 11 cars in early 2002 to grids of 36 at Thruxton in September this year and 82 cars in the series. Britsports, for Global lights up to SR2 cars including Radicals, Jades, Carbir etc., launched on 1st November 2003 with 11 cars on the first grid and now 29 cars entered for the second race on 22nd November at Brands.

One of our aims at the EERC is to purify the races as follows-

· The Tom Rowe Centurion Challenge we propose would become a series for Caterhams, Westfields and the like.

· The 100K races- Radicals could go into Britsports; the saloons into Britcar and the Caterhams into the Tom Rowe Centurion Challenge.

· This would leave the 100K races open for all comers or possibly an alternative fuel series.

· We are, currently, seeking dates for the 2004 season, but until such time as the Brands Hatch Leisure sell off is concluded we are unable to finalise our negotiations.

We have spoken at length with Thruxton, Donington & Silverstone and have some provisional dates which we will publish as soon as they are firm. We are anticipating 8 rounds for the Centurion Challenge.
