Mrs GTD
Thanks for all that Andy. I've passed your comments on to Geoff concerning the proposed driving style at Goodwood - when he stops laughing I'm sure he'll reply himself. I must say you and (na)PP have been most helpful... Say hi to Miss B and S & S. BTW GTD wouldn't let me buy the number plate I wanted - it was D7XON - too much money apparently 🤔 Myles - I'm sure GTD will read your comments & lert you know if he can stil source the gloves you mention. GTD
Myles - send me your home address by e-mail and gloves will appear as if by magic... G 4 Geoff
GTD
Andy B - what can I say - I get back to my desk after a couple of days of exciting full on planning action to find you encouraging Mrs GTD - and she is well aware that Goodwood is a flat out (in second gear all the way) circuit! (na)PP - the very idea that Angie would ever listen to words of wisdom from myself...! The day is open pit lane BTW - the weather forecast is currently looking a bit grim... Rachael
Oh is it time for me to attempt another sun dance. I'm a bit busy this morning, but will head out into the rain and gale force winds and dance round the fountain in the courtyard at lunch time 😬 Rach
GTD
It's not working so far... Looks out of the window to see Winchester at its wet and windy best - yuk! G 4 Geoff
Rachael
I haven't done it yet...oh my, I've just looked out of the window and it's suddenly got light, last time I looked it was still very much dark...in fact it looks like it has stopped raining here - hope the 'good' weather spreads elsewhere Rach

Rachael
☹️ Oh dear, that doesn't sound pleasant, maybe you should not try and use your computer outside actually I think I spoke too soon, it is chucking it down here again. I'll try the sun dance thing after my meeting this morning... Rach
GTD
is that why I am on my own out here in the car park...? G 4 Geoff

Rachael
Well where were you? I was outside dancing around like a fool and no one came and joined in...our building supervisor was giving me funny looks though...hopefully it will have worked and it will be sunny and dry for Saturday. Sideways Sid
GTD- Goodwood in the wet sounds an ideal for Mrs GTD's first trip out, All those spins should be really enjoyable. Flat out in 2nd surely you meant 4th, go on let Mrs GTD really go for it. Anyway if its wet you wont be able to see where your going, got to be a good thing if your feeling nervous 😬 😬
Sideways Sid
GTD, Forgot to mention have you set your car up for the wet, if not i would suggest running the green bar at the front, Adjust the rear ARB so it is on its hardest setting and inflate the CR500's to around 40 - 45 psi. Let me know how you get on

GTD
Rachael Sorry I missed the car park dancing - was out with people from work on Wednesday evening and somehow came over all tired and emotional on Thursday morning - not sure why - it can't have been dehydration, what with all the beer and wine I drank, so I may have caught a bug? Anyway I hope the rain gods were impressed by your solitary jigging! G 4 Geoff
GTD
Andy - I'll certainly apply all that advice - am I right in thinking that CR500's in the wet are best run with the rotation direction of all four tyres reversed to really help that braking moment? G 4 Geoff
scooby dooby doo
the CR500 is a directional tread - if you run it backward it simple won't work in the wet. The only reason for running some tyres backwards is that they DON'T have directional trade but do have a construction that's slightly directional. So the big ACB10s are designed for the rear of an F3000 car and the small ones for the front - the arrows respect that. On a 7 you run with 4 small tyres, so on the rear you run them backwards as the main force is acceleration not braking. Meldrew
So why do people who race on CR500s put the front ones on back to front, then?
GTD
I think Andy was mostly joking with his suggestions....? Imagines driving towards the chicane at Goodwood on a green bar, stiff rear, and super inflated tyres and shudders!!! *wink* G 4 Geoff
GTD
Blimey - tech talk in the sheds, whatever next - friendly postings upstairs! I don't think so.. We run the front CR500's backwards in the dry as the main force they receive is under hard braking... But they do have tread that forces water to the outside of the track when run forwards (and hence aquaplane nicely if run backwards through puddles!) Anyway, Racheal has done her thing, so there will be no rain. I believe! Repeat after me! I believe!! G 4 Geoff
Rachael
Well there's no rain here at the moment and there is supposed to be, so maybe the dance did work Rach
scooby dooby doo
didn't know they ran them backwards on the front as std in the dry - is the gain noticable / measureable 🤔 Unless its really worth a fair bit (ie a tenth a lap) then surely its a bad idea as its bound to start raining during the race at least once in the season... GTD
Not sure I'm a consistent enough to know the time improvement, but I think everyone who races on CR500s runs the front set backwards! G 4 Geoff
