The problem I have is that I have no idea of the noise my 7 will make until I get there... I realise that the noise level will vary with the temperature, track surface, etc, but can you give me some idea of what noise my 7 (1.8K VVC on an SV with 16" ZZ1 204/45R16 tyres (I know I should have 13" or 15")) is likely to make? F355GTS Posted December 4, 2003 Share Posted December 4, 2003 Steve Most of the circuits do a static test and then some monitor the circuit as well, Donington do driveby only and most Octagon circuits don't bother. Typical levels are as you suggested between 98 and 105 and I would think your car would be close to 98dB at around 4.5k revs, bear in mind that most cars fail on the static rather than driveby and therefore if you are a bit economical when telling them your max revs they will test you at a lower level. You can hire a noise meter form Bookatrack for around £10 which might be a good investment rather than paying for a day and then being barred for being too loud Mark Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

How about getting yourself along to a nearby trackday as a spectator and asking if they would run a noise test on your car. Most places the marshall/organisers will be happy to help.
