prs
OK, the bug has hit and I am upgrading my 1.6SS over the winter. If anybody has carrired out similar conversions to the following what BHP did you end up with. I am trying to get best value for money- aren't we all!! Car will be used mostly for road use with the odd track day. Current spec includes 6 speed, widetrack with big brakes, Apollo, Alloy rad etc. Option 1 Jenvey DTH TB's, ported and polished K16 head with standard valves SScams correctly timed with Verniers and Powerspeed 4.2.1. Emerald or DTA. Option 2 Jenvey DTH TB's, ported and polished K16 head with VVC size valves, SScams or Piper 285h with Verniers, Powerspeed exhaust and Emerald or DTA Option 3 Jenvey DTH TB's , big valve VVC Head mechanical followers and 668 cams with Verniers, Powerspeed and ECU. Bottom end will be stripped and rebuilt with HD big end bearings, lightweight flywheel, and possibly new pistons (depends on condition of old ones after 10,000mls use) and full balance. Apart from the headwork I will complete the rest myself. Sorry if all this sounds long winded but I've spoken to too many "specialists"and got confused, time to sound out those who have actually done this . Jason Plato
I've done a few tweeks to my 1600K so for my 2p worth : Option 1 : 165 bhp Option 2 : 190 bhp ( 285H ) Option 3 : 210 bhp ( 1227 cams ) The above would IMHO be possible , but it all realy depends upon the quality of the porting . I'm currently on Option 3.75 😬 If you have a Supersport , then the 4-1 competition exhaust is fine . There is no need to waste money on another manifold . I made 210+ bhp on the 4-1comp system with 98Db @4500 rpm . You realy need to consider forged pistons above 7800rpm and 185bhp . If you were going above 200 bmep than I would also suggest a scholar evo2 block . prs
Have been off line for a while, thanks Dave for the info. Option 1 or 2 appear the best bet at the moment, engine will be coming out very soon. Phil S7 SVN
