ewenm
Rach - have you been having words with Clarkson et al 🤔 That's 2 weeks in a row with Harriers on Top Gear ❗ 😬 And now a Harrier is at the top of the lap times - would have been good to see the pilot do it properly and follow the cricuit accurately 70554 miles and counting... but a broken wrist ❗
Steve-B
JC's description of the pilots' lap was pretty hysterical too rachael... 😬 Steve B Big Black Beast^3 SV VHPD Join us on the USA 2005 tour......HERE
Rhubarb
the harrier's acceleration off the line put it all into context as well!! I fully understand why a friend who used to fly Phantoms for the Navy (when we still had 'real' aircraft carriers) has no interest in fast cars. 700 knots at 20 feet off the deck is really low flying! Debert
Two qweshtuns 1. How much wing area would a Se7en need to lift off? 2. How much would it cost to build (as in 21st century chitty-bang-etc) Come on all in the University of the Shed - Prize for the winner! 😬 Blue and Silver Sublime Vehicle Barbarella here
ewenm
1. Lots 2. Lots 70554 miles and counting... but a broken wrist ❗
Steve-B
1-wing size is proportional to the amount of thrust delivered. 2-far more than our partners would allocate us to spend on said programme... 😬 😬 Steve B Big Black Beast^3 SV VHPD Join us on the USA 2005 tour......HERE
Nick Woods
1. clamshell or cycle wings ? 2. not much, a pair of clams and a bigger radiator fan would probably do it Nick Red and Black 1.6K supersport

Laurence Wilson
I've always had a fascination with Lotus' turbine powered Indy and GP cars. Briefly toyed with the idea of (in the distant future) installing a small turbine into a Seven; then it occured to me (within a matter of milliseconds) that the hot air would most likely have to escape vertically through a large hole near the scuttle. Anyone smell burning flesh Peardrop
Nick Woods
You could duct the exhaust downwards under the car and if you used swivelling nozzles you might be able to make it take off like a Harrier Rachel would be pleased Nick Red and Black 1.6K supersport
Laurence Wilson
Hmmm. A VTOL Seven 😬 Peardrop

Violet Elizabeth
Let me know if anyone wants prior warning of harriers on TG ... the surrounding populace are usually up in arms the moment the "those bl00dy war planes" are back. Plus there was a helicopter to annoy them last week too
Rachael
😬 Thanks Ewen and everyone else...I was out, but able to watch Top Gear...and I'd set the video, so I can watch it over and over again, every time I need cheering up. Tam, Thanks for the text Noger, if you could give me prior warning, it'd be great...then I can spend the whole week getting excited about the prospect of Harriers being on the television again Rach

ewenm
Walked into the office this morning and someone's PC was on with a background shot of a harrier hovering against a nice sunset. Not that unlikely at an MoD site I suppose 70637 miles and counting... but a broken wrist ❗
Rachael
It shows someone with good taste though...my screensaver at work is of Harriers, but my wallpaper at the moment is of the Red Arrows and Concorde. At home it is all Harriers 😬 Rach
Eric McLoughlin
Dunsfold was where all the Harrier test flying used to be done so the local residents should just shut up.
