Gentle but big hug required ☹️

Was cycling home on my road bike from training at Bath Uni last night down a steep hill, doing about 30mph when a deer jumped into the road, landing under my front wheel. Over the handlebars I went and into a heap in the road ☹️ OW *thumbdown*

Full list of injuries:

Broken left wrist *thumbdown* *thumbdown*

Loss of skin on left elbow and shoulder *thumbdown*

Loss of skin on both hips and right buttock *thumbdown*

Loss of skin and hole in left knee *thumbdown*

Loss of skin on left ankle *thumbdown*

Plus crisped front wheel, dented helmet, bent brake/gear levers, scratched frame.

Not allowed to drive and not capable of tinkering with the 7 with only one hand *thumbdown*

☹️ ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ *mad* ☹️ ☹️ ☹️

OUCH

Sorry to hear that you're injured Ewen!

I don't encounter many deer on the way home in Cambridge. Squirrels - that's different! They have this amazing trick of running out in front ot you, telescoping up, inverting themselves and running away from you, all the space of time it takes me to start to twitch a finger on the brake lever!

I can clearly remember the sound of the helmet hitting the road
I had one of those once. Sprinting up a hill in Newcastle in town, when for reasons best known to itself, the transmission jammed. I ended up coming down on the road headfirst, and I could feel it compressing underneath my head. I almost never go out without one on now...

Bad form, at least it wasn't the car, the damn thing might have ended up on your lap! *eek* 😬 😳 *smile*

Hope that it is not your w**king wrist that you have broken *eek* 😬 😬 😬 😬

All in the best possible taste

Edited to ask, training for what?

More giggling - this is good *thumbup* 😬

BB - I'm a fairly serious athlete so generally training, with a view to National XC Champs in the spring, then Olympic Trials in the summer.
