Removable engine bay brace

Recommended Posts

The induction side diagonal engine bay brace has caused a lot of problems since it clashes with the TB air filter and the clutch cable. Now I have the engine out I intend to remake this strut as an L shape so as to move the main length some 60mm outboard of its present position at the pedal box end. Clearly this will not be as stiff in one plane but I am wondering if it is critical.

Has anybody done anything similar?

Tony,

if your using DTHTB`s then no need to reshape the diagonal. Simply fit QED 19mm spacers onto the end of the Tb`s then 90mm bellmouths then mount the filter back plate onto the end of the bellmounts an ITG sausage filter of overall depth 100mm fits perfectly within the bonnet or you can cut the bonnet and fit a larger protruding filter and get some cool air but its noisy.
