Eric McLoughlin
Another interesting social question. Why do people feel like they have to apologise for watching "Mastermind" or "University Challenge" but feel it is "normal" to enjoy such anti-social, negative, depressive ****e as served up on programmes like "Eastenders"? I was less than impressed by the performance of Corpus Christi last night.

Meldrew
I do feel a little sorry for Oxbridge and Durham colleges, who generally enter a team of genuine, young undergraduates (not mature students or bearded postgrads) from a relatively small student body. Corpus is a college of about 300 undergrads. Even the largest collegesa won't be able to muster a population of more than 500. I gather they were cr*p, though. tony pashley
''I watches both and don't apologise to nobody'' Mastermind has been 'dumbed down' somewhat, though, and I care little if I miss it. So, if Eastenders is in ''No apology required'' zone, and Uni. Challenge is ''Apology required'' rated... is the Archers in the same bracket as Uni. Challenge... or in another Apology Zone on the other side of Eastenders? And if so, do they meet up round the back somewhere? Do we need some 3D computer modelling to map apology quotients attributable to various tv broadcasts? Sorry, this belongs back in the classroom... Actually, it probably belongs in the bin. Boonie Hound
A bit of Archers trivia for you - The bloke who plays Brian Aldrich (sorry about the spelling or should I not aplogise anymore) was the voice for Wordy in a popular children's show when I was but a lad. Those of my age (30's) might have seen it at school. Specialist subject - 'The bleedin obvious'

scooby dooby doo
Mastermind and Uni challenger are quite good but i get very annoyed that the science questions are all GCSE level and the literary questions are all degree level or require someone with a lot of general knowledge - ie someone quite old. hence loads of mature students etc. HOOPY R706KGU Hoopylight R
