Barbarella
Fog light goes off when you switch to main beam. Returning from Rumble last night was the first time we had had to use full-beam headlights with fog lamp. Other times in fog have been daylight and we hadn't noticed the problem because only used main-beam flash switch. Nick Pargiter
The fog lights are only wired up to the dip beam circuit so when you switch to main beam the fog light goes out. Surely if it is clear enough to switch to main beam then you don't need the fog light on Mellow Yellow Vauxhall - I don't think so!!! 😬 😬
neil.cavanagh
is that really how they are wired? I hope not! I know I've driven in various different types of fog at night.. some where extra power of high beams helped you see a little further and vis was still 20m or less so rear fog light was required still. Barbarella
On the A272 last night the fog was very patchy, going from max. visibility to as little as 10 metres and then clear again within a few car lengths. We really wanted to keep fog light on all the time, while using main beam as necessary in the clear bits. Thank you for letting us know that it was wired the way it is intentionally. Myles
Uh, yeah - that's the way they are wired... Try it on your tin-top too... You might be surprised... Alcester Racing 7's Equipe - 🙆🏻
Graham Sewell
By law, you should only use dip beam in fog. If visibility is such that you can use high beam without blinding yourself by the light reflecting off the fog rather than objects behind the fog, then it is not foggy (visibility less than 100m) and you should not be using for lights. I.Mupferit
Many tin tops from the mainstream manufacturers have fog lights wired in this way so it is not unusual. Brent Zetec
Chris W
Disregarding the main beam fog debate for a moment, technically it is very easy to wire the fog light such that it comes on in either position (ie: main or dip).
