BrianHorn
As part of a winter fettle 😳, I wish to replace the springy things front and rear. Are the aftermarket bits SO much better than the OE Bilsteins 🤔 And if so, 🤔 Suggestions please, 'on a postcard etc' or here will do fine 😬 Should I also be looking at replacing the de Dion tube at the same time as I read a previous thread stating that the early tubes used to shear and that the new ones are thicker walled 🤔 Brian 'The Wizard' is a 1989 de Dion SuperSprint in Red with Silver stripe.. Rob Walker
The Ali bodied AVO`s are very good and are inexpensive.
Pierre Gillet
Seconded what Rob just said! I just installed 4 AVO Pro Race Ali 'Fast Road' from FreeStyle and I am delighted. I lost some comfort though Vs the Bilstein. Just come back from a blast on our not so good roads using the smoothest position .Used Peter Carmichael 's Flat floor set up simplified method Len is very helpful and efficient . Peter Carmichael
The new de Dions have a wider V in the middel that may not fit with your chassis, so that may be a non starter.
BrianHorn
Thanks Rob & Pierre. Are the AVO's from Freestyle(Len & Gary) then 🤔 Peter, do you mean that a new de Dion tube won't fit my car 🤔 ☹️ glindsay, If you've got nothing sensible to contribute then.....................go and polish your car AGAIN ❗ Brian 'The Wizard' is a 1989 de Dion SuperSprint in Red with Silver stripe.. BrianHorn
I've just been offered a set of Bilstein race dampers from a SLR. Only done 5 races! Will they fit my 1989 de Dion? Will they be 'f**ked' or should they last a while on road? What advantages/disadvantages over 'normal' road spec dampers? Brian 'The Wizard' is a 1989 de Dion SuperSprint in Red with Silver stripe..
