Nick Woods
If I had lost my job I'd probably go contracting because there arent (m)any permanent IT jobs in Norfolk abd I dont want to move house. Having said that I wont leave my permanent-for-a-while-anyway job to go contracting at the moment because as Steve says there are still more contractors than contracts. There are jobs to be had if you have the skills in demand , as The Register reported last week. Of the top 5 skills I have the first two (SQL and Oracle) in abundance Nick P8MRA - Red and Black 1.6K supersport

Violet Elizabeth
It is true that there are lots of contractors "resting". Perhaps I have been lucky so far, but I really enjoy working for myself, it was definately the silver lining to the redundancy cloud.

Gary G
Hoopy, buy the following book: "The Perfect CV" by Max Eggert I have used it and I had a lot of success when I was job hunting. A number of agencies made a point of telling me that my CV was one of the best they'd seen (based on structure rather than content!!) He's also written "The Perfect Interview" which has also been extremely useful.
