elie boone
Jackb, if you have std calipers ( spitfire ) replace them, there are plenty of 2e hand one's around and are very cheap
Sheds Moderator
No guarantee a s/h unit is any better than the one you take off, unless you know the person concerned and that they only took it off recently to fit big brakes. Provided the bleed nipples and hose connx are good (ie unscrew without breaking off) then I see no reason why a rebuild kit shouldn't be used. I'd do this with any caliper that had been in someone's back shed for 2 years anyway because the innards corrode like hell once the air and damp gets in. The kit comprises new rubbers and possibly also pistons (though these too can be cleaned with a fine metal polish if they aren't too bad). You can clean the thing up while it's in bits, after all there are few moving parts. I know a mechanic's dodge for a sticking caliper but it isn't something I would do to a high performance vehicle like a 7.
Sheds Moderator
Oh, the wheel cleaning products will not work beyond making it prettier. Sorry.
