Driving with half tonneau

A half-tonneau on the passenger side smooths the aerodynamics if you haven't got a door there. Most racers (who race without doors) seem to do this - see here. I think you can get a "half door" for the drivers side to cover the door cut-out as well.

Doors and half-tonneau? Its possible - undo some of the press studs and fasten the bottom of the door shut (I never managed to fasten the rear of the door). THere's not much benefit to running like this though. I only found it useful for parking up with the doors and full tonneau on if it looked like rain.

Pierre.

Well I have driven like this when Suzi Seven & I were coming back from the (Brands Hatch) Festival last year. The weather looked so good on Sunday morning that I left the doors behind & just used the wind deflectors. Of course the afternoon brought rain didn't it ! We drove home with Suzi tucked under the half tonneau and just her head showing at the back (by leaving the last 'popper' undone). As you know, you don't get wet while moving at a reasonable rate, but stuck in slow traffic can create a damp feeling! Suzi was warm & dry, so yes, it can be done teeth.gif

Thanks Graeme and Chris.

So it was worth doing the perilous exercise of fitting popper bases below the doors cut-out! It is amazing how, despite all the care and well-respected (I thought) instructions of the build manual, you keep hitting a chassis tube when drilling!

I can tell you that this exercise, Mademoiselle Comma, kept me hot and wet wink.gif
