The short planks thing worries me!

Surely it's the wrong way round? If a plank is short it can't be too thick or it ceases to be a plank and becomes a block at some point. If the plank were longer it could be much thicker, in real terms, before being classified as a block. The second plank would only be there for comparison.

So it should either read

"As thick as one long plank could be"

or

"As thick as a really wide block"

Hope that's cleared that up. *confused*

Well my copy of BF&F doesn't have anything exciting for "fun" and "more th>n" is a bit modern for my 1977 edition 😳
