Paul McKenzie
Does anybody know which Sierra model/Year/engine type the rear brake calipers came from? My rear brakes are binding and rather than pay £95 each for exchange units, I will fettle them myself with a £9 service kit - but I need to know where they're from thanks Paul
mark.hall
They are definitely on my 1989 (F plate) Sierra XR4x4 shopping trolley/tow car.
EFA
The 2 litre Sierra's (GLS Ghia etc.)had discs at the rear from 1989 onwards. I believe all (inc XR4) except the Cossie are the same. DCG
Paul, My 1990 De-Dion rear caliper and Pads are sourced from "early Sierra Cosworth" according to my Caterham owners manual. I had my local Ford dealer fit new pads and they were from a Cosworth. Dave. Edited by - Dave G on 9 Feb 2001 22:11:
Rob Morris
Trust me (Ford employee) try Granada / Scorpio units. If your not sure then find one with alloys and you can see the rear calipers!

PACR
They are the same as on a Granada 24v (Scorpio, Cosworth or whatever they are refered to as) so probably same as ordinary Grannies. One calipers hand brake mechanism on the back of my Scorpio 24v gave up the ghost and I was contemplating swapping one from the Caterham to save £95 getting through the MOT. Downloaded a couple of pages from an online Haynes manual and stripped and rebuilt it and it worked, sort of. Bloody complicated though with all sorts of threaded bits and levers - which might be causing your problems rather than just seals (if getting second hand don't get from an auto (handbrake typically not used as much - hence seizes up - apparently) and make sure the hand brake bit works). Cheers Piers
Blatman
PACR Have you got the url for that on-line manual. I'd like a look at that.
