There are 4 I'm keen on actually guys, if you're interested.

The first is a 250 GTE and the second the 330GT America, (which is basically a 250GTE with the bigger 4 litre V12 and only 50 were ever built)

My other 2 are essentially the same car, being the 330GTC (4 litre V12 coupe) or the slightly later 365GTC which had the 4.4 Litre version.

All of these cars are to my eye staggeringly pretty, and after having the 7 there's no point trying to buy a faster car !

Julian they are beautiful and some have had thousands poured into their restoration on the back of the late '80s/'90s Ferrari boom, but they are eye wateringly expensive to maintain and sort if anything goes wrong and aren't that easy to sell on ISTR - call Talacrest for an opinion if you like or I can give you a guy's number a little nearer to you - Colin Heaney - Cheshire based purveyor of Italian exotica - but if you do buy one I'll still be jealous as the 250/330 series have always caught my eye and the 365s always did well for me in Top Trumps!

This car of Julians is bloody fabulous and has been taken to a level way above factory bulid quality. Can't see where the £24000 price arrives from though as when I advertised mine in a bout of depression a couple of months ago the one guy who bothered to turn up to house bid £25500.......I rejected offer and he bought new......ok mine only had 700 miles on clock but I don't think Ju's has done much more.

As for the exotica....give me a call Ju I may be able to help there.

Cheers,

Kenny SLR400

Um. Ouch. I'm welling up!

Actually I'm really having a fun time tracking down a suitable Fizzer. The prices are wierd. Some are like stratospheric and then some are realistic for an ostensibly better car depending on how double barrelled the sellers name is!

I'm asking only £24000 for the car to give real value - however, please be aware anyone interested that my comment when posting this sale was "considering offers". This is a heart-wrenching sale but I've no space or money for 2 toy cars but there is of course the chance that I'll back out and change my mind !

GUYS - I'd be interested in any help finding a car. mail me at v11ufo@btinternet.com

Have you tried Coys?

They had a fantastic looking rhd 1969 365 GTC (#12245) in their recent Chiswick House sale (estimate was £55 -65k) which may not have sold.

You should also talk to Mark Collins (aka F355GTS)

Ju

you should have a chat with Guy Tendler at Talacrest in Egham, they tend to specialise in the classic and rare models, also DK Engineering in Watford

Worth keeping an eye out on hte owners club site at http://www.ferrariownersclub.co.uk/sales/sales.asp

Lastly without doubt you must get any prospective purchase checked out by somebody who really knows the cars (not many have the experience) and it's quite likely there are some real dogs out there *wink*

Nothing this rare in Talacrest last time I was in there (couple of weeks ago) but Guy should give you some impartial advice. Colin Heaney used to be on 0161 628 2922 - he calls a spade a spade or a 308 GT4 a dog or a Jalpa a millstone, or a....you get the general idea *wink*

If you are interested in '60s Ferraris, I believe there is a programme on BBC2 tonight at 21.50 called Highest Bidder (or something similar) that follows the auction of a Le Mans 330 Testarossa that eventually sold for an outrageous multi-million £££ sum.

I've today spoken to DVA who rebuilt a 330GTC in the seventies (is there any car he doesn't know about?????) and EVEN HE reckon's there are a "spectacular" amount of bits to the engine and that they are not for the faint of heart!

Anyway.

Technically my SLR is still for sale ! I think!
