Joachim Westermann
Thx Shaun, This thread do not help me. I know the design (looking) from the ZF. A friend of me has a K 1600. There is not a ZF inside! But now we are not sure..... is it a visco or a AP Suretrack. I never see a AP and I never see a Visco. Mike Bees
I don't think Caterham have ever supplied the viscous-coupled LSD, so if it's not a ZF and it's not an open diff and it was supplied by Caterham then it should be the AP. If it was an aftermarket fitted LSD then it could be the Quaife ATB type. Mike
Graham Perry
Viscous has two female splined cogs on one side for the splined driveshaft to fit into and a single splined cog on the other side. Highly unlikley to have been fitted to a Caterham without a great deal of work, although I think someone has done it. Its been a while since I looked at a an AP or Quaiffe torque biasing diff but I think you need to remove the backplate and there will be a large drum like structure in the centre of the diff, and it won't have the splines like those of the Viscous unit ie it will only have one each side Edited by - Graham Perry on 28 Jul 2003 10:08:
stevefoster
If you look on my website below under recent projects there is a picture of an AP suretrac diff. Only a help if you whip the backplate off.
