Wheel bearings

Does anyone know which vehicle the rear wheel bearings for a 2000 de dion 7 are off - are they the same as a Ford XR4x4?

I have a track day this w/e, said bearings have been on order from Caterham for ever, are out of stock and were promised last week. They are now quoting Feb 14 which is too late!! I am therefore in somewhat of a hurry to find another source. I am going to also try ringing around Caterham agents tomorrow but would be interested if I can just get them from my local Ford dealer.

Do you have the bearings outquestion.gif If you do, identify them from whatever markings are on them and phone a bearing supply specialists. If you are anywhere near W London at all, there is a company called Brentford Bearings in Harlequin Ave, Brentford, who have supplied bearings to friends of mine in the past for a variety of cars and motorcycles, and at a fraction of the cost of dealers. I would think they would "mail order", and a search on yell.com should realise a phone number.

Just noticed your comment on thread from Gareth re. wheel bearings. Interested to see this and especially the date of his posting.

I've just had wheel bearing fail on my dedion car last week (hence letter to new car owners since Nov 2000 recalling cars). The bearing failed after around twenty miles in a brand new car. I was on a motorway and spun off into the embankment, fortunately I was not injured. Classic Carriage immediately diagnosed bearing failure and car was shipped to caterham direct from motorway recovery agents (damaged car still with them). I have been informed that there was only one other incident and that it was caterhams own car? Interested to hear any comments.

A lot of failures being mentioned here! I had one being to fail last summer (1997 car). I bought a complete new hub/bearing assembly and one kit to recon the other side when I had the time. Bought from Caterham. The complete hub/bearing was faulty from manufacture. So I ended up putting the bearing kit into my old hub.

It was an easy enough job.

Perhap you can get the recon kit more easily?

My superlight had to go for rework this week. I heard that it is the housing that needs changing as well. These had to come from Caterham. for info Arrowstar said they had lots of rear wheel bearings in stock.
