Mikey UC
I have found a car breaker selling a 1.6 k series engine, which I’m planning to fettle for my next winter project, just want to check a few things before seeing it. The casting number on the head has to be over LDF 10091 for it to be a ‘high port’ head (according to DV Andrews webpage), was the high port head used on any 1.4 engines ? Are k series castings prone to cracking in any particular areas ? anything else I should look out for in particular ? Thanks for any help Michael
Allen Payne
Both my 1400's had high port heads.
Mikey UC
Is there an easy way of telling if the engine is a 1.6 or 1.4 ?
Grim Reaper
Just a guess, but since my 1.8 has an engine number beginning 18K4K I would suspect that a 1.4 would start 14K or a 1.6 would start 16K. That would be too obvious though wouldn't it 😬
