Fuel tank removal

If the car is jacked up, it is possible to get the tank out downwards although the return feed can be tricky to get past the de-dion tube. It's easier the other way. To get it out upwards, it helps if the car is jacked up and then put on two axle stands, then getting the jack out of the way. By tilting the tank, one end of the tank can be lowered to the ground which gets the tank vertical. It can then be lifted upwards with the bar in place. I know this works with a de-dion FIA bar and standard tank (injection or carb) but I'm not sure about any other combination.

With the help of a friend, I changed from an old steel tank to a new Ali. one on a de-Dion car from underneath without having the remove the (FIA) bar.

With a bit of judicious wiggling it will fit between the tank mounts and the de-Dion tube (plus sundry 'other' bits...) - but make sure you get the car quite high in the air on axle stands in order to play with the angles.
