Doug phillips
Ok, its a K 1.8 VVC. After a day at Santa Pod, I started to have a sticky throtle on the drive home. So today I have changed the cable, and its still the same . If I blip the throtle the RPM drops down to about 1000, but if I drive the cars it sticks at about 3500. . Blipping the throtle drops it down again. ❗ Its an 🙆🏻 driving it like this, plus I sound like a Max Power reader at the lights. So. Its not the cable..................... what is it then. Helpppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp *wink* *wink* *wink* Thanks. Doug, Su77on Se7ens See our web site here. Bugger...... scooby dooby doo
is it on a plenum 🤔 it may be that one of the screws on the plenum is too tight which distorts thepastic a bit and stops the butteryfly moving quite so freely. scooby dooby doo
it could judt have been a bit marginal and has worn a bit perhaps... The IACV is an ECU controlled valve that allows air to bypass the butterfly. that way the ECU can control the amount of air into the engine at idle to give a more stable idle. they can get sticky. not sure what the soultion is - i presume you remove the air filter and squirt GT85 or WD40 into the hole it uses in front of the butterfly... 🤔 With an Emerald you just throw it away and control the idle with fueling and advance at a fixed idle throttle opening. Chris W
Hoopy Emerald are doing a mod to their software to be able to use the IACV. The only reason they don't handle the IACV currently is because Rover changed the type of stepper motor used on the IACV and Emerald's software was not programmed to deal with the new motor. The change in motor is not just a different brand, it's operated by totally different electronic signals to the first type. Bill Shurvinton
Hoopy is right to a degree. With most engines as long as you don't need EU3 certification you can get away without needing an idle bleed. Removing it reduces weight and one less thing to go wrong
Doug phillips
Thanks for the replys, Mark I will give you a ring on tuesday. Just to add to this. As I said I have changed the throtle cable, when I did this I had to screw the plastic bit( Hi tech a) out a lot more than the old one. My god the car now goes like sh*t of a shovel, it feel's like a different car. , its a bit strange as I did not have any "slop" in the throtle cable before. *confused* 😬 😬 Its the best £10 spent on the car. 😬 😬 😬 Doug, Su77on Se7ens See our web site here.
