mike ashurst
Hi folks, On the subject of MOTs, mine is just coming up. I've painstakingly fitted full harnesses, and am not sure what the situation is for the MOT. Will they fail it unless I refit the inertias or can I get away with it? All sugestions gratefully received. Whilst I'm here, my battery has just died, when I re-charge/refit it will my ECU need re-setting, if so how? Thanks, Mike
Andrew Dent
Technically, I believe the full harness is illeagal, but have not found a MOT place that knows that. I may be wrong. Andrew
mark.hall
I have full harnesses and have never failed an MOT (famous last word's!!!!!!) Demon Tweeks also have several full harnesses listed as "road legal". I'll bet a penny to a pound that if an MOT update went around to the MOT stations saying that some full harnesses were now legal, they'll not bother to check if you have an "approved" one. The only other thing I have heard is that seatbelts/harnesses must be able to be undone one-handed in order to pass. If that is the only criteria, then all harnesses should pass. Peter Carmichael
Full harnesses are legal. They just check the security of the mounting points.
CHRIS CLARK
There used to be a bit in the law that said that seat belts should be able to be undone one handed. The old full harnesses needed two hands, but the latest type (Luke etc) are a one handed release so the answer is,yes, you're OK !

Graham Sewell
The quirky bit of law used to be that the belts needed to be done up with one hand - undoing them was never an issue. I think this was so that a driver could put on his seat belt when he spotted a tax collector while still driving. Cheers, Graham
