Deano
I'm in the process of trying to refit the rear dampers to a 99 de Dion car, having just changed my FIA roll bar. They are proving a complete bugger to refit! When i manage to get the bottom bolt in, I cant seem to get the top one in, and vice versa. Any helpful hints greatly appreciated! Lawrence_Z
Did you use the special half height head, set screw into the bottom fixing of the roll bar? Even a washer stops the damper going up far enough to align the upper bolt Lawrence
Deano
Yep, i've used to same bolt as was in before (i've changed from fia bar to tall fia bar) Have now managed to get the top bolt in, but the bottom one seems incredibly difficult to tighten, unless it was crossthreaded before. Should the bottom bolt go in first, or the top one? Thanks Dean
Lawrence_Z
Put the top in first and then lift the dedion slightly to align the bottom one.... works for me Lawrence

Mr Locust
Careful. The DD ones are easy to cross thread.
scooby dooby doo
lawrence_Z is right - lift the dedion enough to relive the pressure and its fairly easy. its REALLY tricky with the twi part freestyle spherical bearings spacers though ❗ HOOPY R706KGU Hoopylight R
DrivRich
I had to turn my rear shocks round the right way up after post build 😬 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 Place stands under chasis NOT Dedion. Place padding on chasis to catch dedion when it drops after you disconnect the bottom of the shocker. Disconect top bolt. On return trip put top in first. Best to wobble the top in, and then use a screw driver through from behind the seat to properly align the hole before putting the bolt through. Lift the dedion up and wobble up and down as you edge the bottom bolt through. I used copper slip to assist. Went in okay. Good luck. PS - the picture in the manual of the rear shock installed shows the progressive shock the opposite way up as in reality ❗ ie the closer together coils of the spring relative to the further apart coils of the spring, and a novice like me just follows orders Dave Saw a 7 Hitched a ride in a 7 Ordering a 7 - Done that now ❗ Will Own a 7 😬 - First Week of 2003 - Got Her Now 😬 😬 Up to the elbows in cardboard and bits 😳 passed Post Build now - SVA in 2 weeks SVA was a breeze (except the driver side door hinges ) 2 weeks and 4 visits to DVLA just to get the registration On the Road At Last 😬 😬 Membership Number 6640
