Rupert939
I have just had to fit a new rev counter to my 1996 1.4 roadsport ltd. edition (128bhp version) I have been in contact with Dartford as it has been reading twice what it should. I have been told to remove the rubber bung at the back and set the switches to; 1- off 2- off 3- on 4- on 5- on 6- off. It slightly improved but still reaches the max 8000rpm without me lighting the change up lights. Anybody got any ideas? Incidently after fitting the new counter my engine began to cut out when I stopped. My local garage increased the idling speed. Could this be connected to the rewiring it needed? ☹️

Chris W
Rupert If it's the standard Caterham one (made by Caerbont) see the set up instructions here The switch positions they have given you do indeed appear to be correct for this tacho and your car, in which case the fault lies elsewhere. But play around with switches 4 & 5 as per the instructions on the website just in case. Chris 2003 1.8K SV 140hp see it here
