( Seirra Girling Claw Calipers ) The pads have very little wear , new 13mm overall size 0.5mm wear now 12.5mm. Cost over £100 looking for £50 and could deliver to Llandow this weekend. markc
Hi Rob Im very interested in the pads - can you tell me why your changing them ?? I have pagid pads up front and was working out if it was worth putting the same at the rear. Many thanks MarkC
Rob Walker
Hi Marc, I have the pads spare after fitting uprated rear brakes. Ask any brake pad supplier, its not good practise to fit different pads front and rear, in particular a high friction pad like the Pagid which increases in coefficient of friction as it heats up. You could end up with completely the wrong front to rear brake bias when you least expect it. Rob
stevefoster
Except when you are me and run Pagids rear and Ferodo race front and have perfect brake balance and comparable stopping power to others I mix with. I needed more rear braking for little money and a set of pads was the way to go. The 9" rear slicks can handle a fair amount of braking before they would lock up. I agree about the comment in general and understand fully why the trade recommends this. But sometimes you have to experiement. The Pagid's / Ferodo's are serious good at hauling up the car when up to temp. caterhamnut
Steve - are the Ferrado's you mention the ones you get from Halfords, or something more exotic? cheers New site! mycaterham.com here 42,000 in 23 months!
stevefoster
Ferodo FRP218R. I doubt Halfords will do them. I find none of the lack of feel that was posted on another thread about red stuff. They were the standard issue on the AP big brake kits. They last very well too.
