scooby dooby doo Posted July 3, 2003 Share Posted July 3, 2003 HTML doesn't let you know if a page is being viewd or not - just that its been requested and sent out. so i think the counter is something like the number of distinct IP addresses that have requested a page in the last 5 minutes. or it might be the number of browsers - so if you have 5 browsers open you might count as 5 people... Posted July 3, 2003 Share Posted July 3, 2003 It doesn't seem too bothered about IP addresses, but the timer seems to be much short than 5 minutes perhaps as low as 20 or 30 seconds, I couldn't refresh pages fast enough to really push it but I managed to add 10 to the number of users online with about 20 browsers open.
