Leadership Team Mcalvert Posted June 29, 2003 Leadership Team Share Posted June 29, 2003 I have been trying to find EP80 oil to top up the gearbox, but the two motor factors I have been to only have combined EP 80-90 oil. Can I safely use this, or should I be looking for the "Real thing"? Thanks - Michael.

Leadership Team Mcalvert Posted June 29, 2003 Author Leadership Team Share Posted June 29, 2003 Thanks. Can someone confirm that the gearbox (and the diff) should just be filled until they overflow? I'm noty going to cause any problems with the a frame bush getting oily if I fill the diff to the max am I? Thanks - Michael.
allen
Yes, just fill to the lip of the filler plug. From a dry or drained fill (as oppoased to a top up) pour in just under the amount quoted in the handbook/manual. You can see how it's going by sliping your little finger into the hole and seeing if you can find the oil level - to give you some idea of how much more is needed. Generally it's good to keep oil away from rubber bushes/mountings, but in practice the really vulnerable one (if you have a live axle car) is the a frame bush under the diff.
