Help with leaking petrol tank

Hi

 

Any one in Chesham or nearby I could borrow a 20ltr or more petrol can?

I have a leak in my fuel tank and of course it's the leak is 3/4 down.

I'm going to repair the leak with " Leak Fix" from plastic bond.

Will this be a quick fix or will it hold?

Any other ideas how i can do it?

Where is it leaking from? The most common leak is from the pump gasket if it's an injection tank. If it's a hole in the tank, it's probably best welded up properly.

It's leaking from one bolt which i don't no the function!

I've manage to reduce the leak by a minimun but the smell of pretrol is very high

As far as I'm aware, the only bolt into the tank are those for the sender which are at the top of the tank and shouldn't cause a leak and those for the pump in an injection tank. I had a leaky tank for a while and it is a nuisence. There is no way to sure what's going on without taking the tank out and having a good look at it. It's worth doing properly and keep a fire extinguisher close to hand!! If you're at all unsure about taking the tank out, you might want to ask someone who's done it before to help.
