Griff
Is the oil temp sender on a K-series dry sump system a Caterham only part or is it available elsewhere? Does it pour oil out the hole when removed? I think mine's duff as it gives an infinite resistance reading, unlike the water temp sender which was something like 2kohm (from memory). robmar
yes - it will piss out all the oil in the bellhousing tank if you remove it no idea if it is a caterham only part rob
scooby dooby doo
temp senders are a 10 quid from caterham. I think the VDO and caerbont ones are the same / interchangeable. however the water temp ones go 0-120 and are totally different in output from the oil ones which are 0-150 degrees. This means that apollo tank equipped cars often have a water temp sender in the apollo tank so the water temp gauge can be switched to show oil temp. One other thing to check - is it earthing properly? HOOPY R706KGU Hoopylight R
Chris W
Griff If it's reading open-circuit (infinite resistance) then it's departed this life. You're correct that a good sender is around 2-3K ohms. Chris 1.8K SV 140hp see it here
