popuplights
has anyone done a Bike Engine conversion to a seven, and not bothered with a reverse gear to save some cash? Is it legal ? and can you live with it? Paul
fireblade
Paul, A reverse is not required by law. You have three options: 1. No reverse. You'll probably need a two piece prop with a centre bearing. Many people can live with this. 2. Mechanical reverse, e.g. Quaife like Westfields use (reputedly unreliable and vibration-prone) or the type James Whiting does for the "ex-semi-official" Caterham Fireblade (works fine for me). 3. Electric reverse. Several solutions, depending on how much power you need. Check out the BEC list for more info - it's a favourite subject. http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/bike-engined-cars John Latham Edited by - fireblade on 14 Jun 2003 10:16:
