Tazio
Doing a few cosmetics and having the rear end repanelled now I have removed the spare wheel carrier et all. Question is, are the rear fog light and reversing lights a legal requirement??, or can I leave the panel hole free?, ( and save the weight too, it is a VX after all!) Swiss_Tony
Alan All you need for an MOT test is a foglight and a correctly illuminating switch. You do not need a reverse light (you may for sva test). James
EFA
Just sussed its you. Glad to hear the retirement boredom means you'll be at Le Mans. The lamp is a legal req. but you can mount it on a brackt which holds it under the fuel tank with the lens flush to the rear panel. Thats what I did - looks neater than sticking out..... Number Six
An alternate if you're safety-conscious is on the roll bar, at eye level for the tintops following you, maybe it would be possible to rig up a longitudinal lamp (check out mags like max power for ideas...) Personally I like the look of a bare rear end too.teeth.gif What about a number plate light? Andy
EFA
I stuck my number plate lamp underneath too..... See here! (its a 200k file....) Number Six
Very nice Arnie. Second thoughts about the roll-bar, it would preclude putting the hood up, God forbid that you'd ever do that...another option for the fog light, get a circular one and mount it in the spare wheel carrier hole. Number Six
By the way Arnie, what size wheels and tyres do you run front and rear? - they fill the arches very nicely at the back! Andy

Pierson Broome
Arnie - it's a while since I've seen K2 RUM (like ISTR it wasn't yellow when I last saw it...) - having seen the picture of the rear, where's your fuel filler located? Steve W
I don't know about SVA but I've never had a fog or reversing light fitted. If they are fitted then the MOT will test them and they must work. But if there not fitted then there's nothing to test and nothing to fail. If think it works the same way as windscreen wipers. No screen, no wipers fitted can't be tested can't fail. Just marked as not fitted on the test sheet ? Hope this is right maybe check with the MOT station, but I've never had a problem getting a MOT ? EFA
Foglights were made a legal requirement in 1982. If the MOT station didn't spot it they were not following test proceedures correctly. Petrolhead
Hi Arnie Interesting, if that is the case then it open up all sorts of ideas that I have for my number plate. Where can I find more info and is it available on the NET? Cheers Peter
EFA
The info is on V796 available from the DVLA. Read it carefully and make no assumptions. This is the definative document. Be warned on March 1 the new plates come into force with new legislation regarding who can sell plates and the font used etc. Act quickly!
