lotusandy
Just installed the engine on my new 1.6 K series roadsport, only to discover that I have put the Bl**dy clutch release fork round the wrong way 😳 😳. I am assuming that there is no way to rectify this other than taking the engine out again. If I do have to remove the engine do I have to drain the engine oil, or is it ok to leave it in. Fotunatley I discovered what i had done before I filled the gearbox with oil, so that wont need draining. Off to the pub now to make it all better! Paul Ranson
If you separate the engine and gearbox in the car you won't need so much angle so leaving the oil in should be fine. Paul
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted May 26, 2003 Leadership Team Share Posted May 26, 2003 Assuming that you are at the stage of gearbox and engine fitted and bolted in, propshaft connected etc, and only found out when trying to fit the clutch cable, the easiest and quickest method will be to separate the engine from the bellhousing in the car, and lift out the engine only. All lubricants will remain intact including the gearbox oil if you had got as far as filling. The only leakpoint in the system is at the rear of the gearbox - not a problem if you leave the propshaft connected. Stu.
