How heavy is a ?

Not 100% sure, also depends what bits you have attached at the time, but I think:

K Series 92 kilos?

Duratec is about the same as a K series around 92 kilos with no induction system and ultralight weight flywheel. I've sort of worked this out by weighing bits independantly. I'll know for sure when I finish building the engine.

My Zetec with coil pack, inlet manifold and lightweight steel flywheel: 115 kilos

The Crossflow that came out of my car was 100 kilos.

I've been told that the VX is around 130 kilos but Idon't know if this is true.

Some info on www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk

Follow the links to a page with weights of various Se7en's related things.

Weights of engines are notoriously difficult to compare 'cos one person weighs a standard engine with oil in and alternator, starter, carbs etc fitted then the next person weighs theirs with no ancillaries, no sump pan, ultra-lightweight flywheel, 5 inch clutch, steel crank. This can make a huge difference so be very careful when comparing 2 quoted weights that they are like for like.

If you go K, zetec, crossflow, Vauxhall, Pinto then that's probably as near as you're going to get.

My data where we have weighed everything ourselves is

Engine 1700 XF inlet manifold, Carbs, flywheel, clutch, ign plugs, oil, starter etc steel wet sump 112KG

Engine VXC inlet manifold, Carbs, flywheel, clutch, ign plugs, oil, starter, wet sump etc 133KG

Engine Zetec, 2.0L, inlet manifold, Carbs. flywheel, Clutch, plugs, oil, starter, wet sump etc 125KG

(none of the above with alternator).

K series dressed (not weighted by us) but quoted as above 1.6 SS 105 kgs

Steve

My Crossflow was without carbs, starter motor or oil. With steel wet sump.

Zetec was with a cut and shut stock ali sump. Again no carbs or oil.

Looks about right.
